Obesity May be Linked with Increased Cancer Risk; Shed Extra Kilos With these Foods

An unhealthy and high fat diet does not only affect your waistline, but is also responsible to become one of the reasons for developing most cancers. According to a new reports published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 40 percent of the US cancer diagnoses can now be linked to overweight and obesity.Nearly two thirds of Americans are pronounced as overweight or obese.

According to the report, a majority of American adults’ weight is more than recommended and being overweight or obese puts people at higher risk for a number of cancers. Out of all the cancer diagnoses, nearly 55 percent of female cases and 24 percent of male cases were linked to obesity. These cases statistically affect the older adults, mostly between the ages of 50 and 74 years old.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has identified certain types of cancers that have been linked to overweight and obesity- meningioma, multiple myeloma, adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus, cancers of the thyroid, post-menopausal breast cancer, stomach, liver, uterus, ovaries, colon and rectum among others. Out of these, colon, rectal, pancreatic, breast, liver and ovarian are the most dangerous types of cancers.

It is imperative to eat healthy and exercise for at least 15-30 minutes to prevent weight gain. Here are some foods to add in your daily diet that will help you lose significant amount of weight.

1. Green vegetables

Grenn and fresh vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, spinach and avocadoes are high in minerals protein and iron content that help you provide loads of energy. These high fiber foods help in boosting your metabolism, further helping you to lose weight.

2. Green tea and coffee

According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, men who consumed a combination of caffeine and green tea burned more calories. Green tea is rich in antioxidants like polyphenols which have numerous health benefits and also aids in weight loss.

3. Nuts and seeds

Dry fruits are a powerhouse of energy and proteins. Since protein has a high thermic effect, your body will have to burn more fats to digest them.

4. Lentils and whole grains

Lentils are a great source of proteins, carbohydrates and fiber that help in good digestion process. The iron content facilitates the flow of oxygen throughout the body that further helps in boosting metabolism.
